Jerry loves me and was stating, in his own way, that I am still number one in his eyes! Annette is still in Michigan I believe. I am friends with her on the Book of Feces (Facebook). And yes, I miss Becky and every time I come across a photo of her (and I have more than a few!) it brings up good memories.

My daughter, on the other hand, is a full-time endeavor!

              Bike Number 3:

1972 Honda 750 K2. Waz bought it, I think around late 1975 / early 1976 from a motorcycle shop for $300 - it was in pretty rough condition. He tidied it up, tinkered with the motor, handmade the headers and painted it candy apple red.

Wasn't long before he bolted some go-faster bits to it: Clip-ons, ditched the front number plate, and added a supercharger:

We used to ride this thing two-up everywhere. It was such a weapon in its day. The SC would cut in at a certain number of revs and would just about rip ya bloody head off when it did. Those were the days when cops wouldn't bother booking us coz they thought we'd not survive long enough to pay the fine.

Waz ended up selling it to a guy he worked with who was desperate to buy it. He ended up wrecking it. Shit happens.

That's a very interesting article, Dan... thanks!! The 1st photo in the article is from Carlsbad Raceway in Southern California, where I cut my road racing teeth, and where my photo was taken. The road course consisted of the drag strip and the return road to the pits... it was primitive, and never designed to be a road course. We ran the 1/4 mile+ straight in reverse from the drag strip, and there was no runoff if you missed your braking point... only a solid retaining wall at the end of the straight!! The H1 would approach 130 mph on the straight, so we put metallic brake linings in it, and the drums got so hot that they turned blue, along with the spokes...

R111S Gingerelli talked me into riding my CB-160 to the track, putting number plates on it there and racing it in the 200 production class! I raced AFM, ACA and some other races for several years before real life took me out of SoCal in 1976. Fun times. Gingerelli was a natural, a la Bill Morgan Jr. and MattB. He's still fast. We keep in touch.

Oh,the 160 taught me how to go fast. When I first got on a competitive RD the next year, I was always near the front. Going fast on a slow bike is better than going slow on a fast one, LOL!

Throwback Thursday's ........... so many bikes I figure I'll try to do one a week. This is sometime late 2002. We're in the car (can't recall why) and halfway home from Touring Sport BMW in Greenville SC we start talking about that use but like new red Ducati ST2. Susan called Frank Shockley and handed the phone to me. Less tan a minute later we're turned around and soon we own the Duc. Wish I'd never have sold it. A good as every bike we've owned has been not one had the soul of this one. Boofidy booofidy boof. Gawd she sounded sweet.
