Hodaka Combat Wombat I think it's a 73. Spent more time fixing the transmission then riding it.


First motorcycle I think its a LT5? 100 4 spd dual range transmission. Didn't last that long riding it in the dirt.

One of the nicest bikes we've had was a 1989 Yamaha FJ1200. I realized that the BMW R80 bag mounts were metal, and metal is easily reshaped, so I made some modifications and voila, the sport-tourer Yamaha should have had to start with. (For those of you to young to remember, other than BMW most sport-touring bikes in the USA didn't have saddlebags as a factory option.) The saddlebag emblems were the Yamaha tuning forks off of their V-Max. I told BMW people this was Yamaha's European model.

I rode a Super Rat once that had a GP pattern...first up, all others down. Wombat the same?

This was at a campground near Agadir, Morocco. Fast Eddie and I bought 1970 R75/5's from the local dealer in the Washington DC suburbs. Bought new and picked up in Munich, Germany. I got a black one and Ed bought a white one. I brought my girlfriend, Sheri, along for the ride.
The fall of 1970 was a particularly cold one so we drove deep into Morocco and rented a house for four months. We went on to live on the beach in the Canary Islands and when winter broke we headed back to tour Europe. Eventually I shipped it home from the Bonn/Cologne airport. It was a great adventure.

This is my 2006 K1200R that I loved so much. Only sold it because I changed to the K1300R. I was almost in tears as I watched it leave my place, and I even rang the bloke who bought it a few months later just to hear how much he loved it too.

My missus looks pretty good in her leathers too I reckon. I've still got her
