I've never been to one of those big ones so I can't say for sure but I don't think it would be for me. I've enjoyed all the I-BMW and TRP rallies I've been to. The OZ rally was a once (or maybe twice) in a lifetime experience. The time I went to SSR with Joe, Bill and John and we stayed at Louis' place in Quebec was crazy good. I really like AHR, KHCR is a great social rally, and BRPR is close for me and I love the venue. So don't make me pick them in order.
If you don't like crowds, visiting during the week before the rally can give you a taste with much fewer people. However, prices are usually already spiked by that time 3 or 4x.
Also there used to be separate camping sites out in the sticks for the BMW people during Sturgis and Daytona. Don't know if they do that anymore.
Camping during Laconia means dealing with black flies.
