Four years ago today we closed on our home in Laurel Park NC. In observance of our homes birthday we bought her an angel food cake with strawberries and whipped cream, then hopped on the bike and took a ride. The weather is perfect but expected to be hot later today, and only a 20% chance of showers. Last week we were in Kentucky with Klim suits so we were anxious to try the Firstgear vented in a sort of side by side comparison. Our first order of the ride was food. Hubba Hubba BBQ in Flat Rock to be exact. It is excellent. Parking is gravel so we're on the perfect bike for that.
The menu doesn't have one bad item on it. We took a few minutes to ponder.
Susan had a veggie plate with Mac and Cheese, potato salad and beans. And the Cheddar biscuit, yummy!! I had a pulled pork sandwich with baked bean and potato salad.
We stopped to enjoy the signs and flowers, something we often just walk or ride by without taking a minute to stop and see. We're trying to do more stop and see this year.
And an old closed motel sign near Columbus NC.
But now, back to the ride. We took Holbert's Cove Road and the Greenville Watershed loop from Flat Rock. This is a favorite of ours but summer brings a lot of bicyclist out on the Watershed. Oh yeah, see those white puffy clouds with a hint of grey? Should be no porblem, remember, only a 20% chance.
More scenery, twistiy roads and shade. This first pic is the Watershed road. Second pic is Holbert's Cove Road. Home.
Trivia info, the Jeep reads the left turn ahead at a 9% grade!!
And then, KaBoom. What happened to 20%? We're wearing jeans and vented jackets. What was a hot 90º is not a chilly 74º. Oh well, a wet day riding beats a dry day sitting any time.
This is a couple hundred feet from our turn off to home. Time to wash the bike and get some of that angel food cake! Great day, hope y'all had a great one as well.
