    Long way Up...

    Thanks for the link...

This one doesn't excite me because it seems like a publicity stunt to
bring attention to the HD bike.
I know the other rides had some support but not nearly as much as
this ride has. It's just not practical to have a bunch of vehicles in tow
    to charge the batteries.

It's unfortunate that Harley doesn't have their own GS alternative for sale, mush less an off road variant of the LiveWire. More like a short someplace in Harley's Marketing department. And I agree with Mike, this one's a publicity stunt more so than an adventure ride.

To me it's poor publicity when you need support vehicles and a Sprinter van carrying batteries.

After crossing into the U.S. in New Mexico, Charley said charging stations were faster and plentiful and they were able to pick up the pace and made about 300 miles per day, while south of the border they had been averaging 120-180 miles. As we’d previously reported, gas-powered, crew-carrying chase vehicles, which included a Mercedes Sprinter and Ford F350, ferried battery banks so they could top off the e-vehicles between stops.

Lee, come on now, Sprinter vans? They are the best.

            Until they need maintenance

Mike have you had one? The best or nothing!
Before you go of on me, I have one.
Its like owning a BMW bike, if you cant afford the maintenance, its probably not the vehicle for you. Buy a Jap and be happy.

Yes I owned one. I gave you the link to the forum so you can get ahead of the issues.
Mine was an '05 I bought new and just got rid of it in '17. Really wanted the Sprinter but
            went with the Transit instead.
I loved it until things started going and leaving me stranded. It rusted if you looked at it.
I hope the new ones are better but the DEF and emission stuff will kill the love when it
goes bad. Did you get the extended warranty?
Here it is again, lots of good info:

Thanks Mike, Yes I got the extended warranty for 5 yrs. It is my company vehicle, so it will be replaced in 5 yrs anyway, unless it proves to be really good one.
So far, I am liking it. Different for sure. But I love the turbo diesel, and the new electronics in it are awesome. Thanks for the link but have been a member there for awhile and learned all about it before I bought it.

I keep mine for ten years, it takes too much time and expense to change vehicles,
            lettering, shelving, doo-dads.....
I know, it's a write-off but still not worth the effort.
My '05 had 190k+ miles on it. I put it on ADV site and sold it the first day.

Nothing against Sprinter, I would like to have one or a Ford. Just saying, to me it was bad publicity they needed two large vehicles to carry extra battery banks.
