HP2 Enduro - How have I never heard of this bike before?

Ran across this beauty at work a few weeks back. Got to talking to the owner. He's a huge BMW nut who's collection contains a bunch or prewar bikes, as well as oddballs like this. I could have stared at this thing all day.

While I wouldn't take the HP2 as a serious off-road contender, I would take it off-road. Heck, I take the GSA off-road! I do like the concept of the HP2 and think it is a cool bike in general.

Yeh Joe, as always...the right tool for the job. Around here it would be great on most FS and Jeep trails...being mindful of cylinder width?

There's a ongoing thread on ADVRider dedicated to the HP2 Enduro... "Let's See Your HP2". Started in 2007 & has more than 2.5 million views. There are some really sharp examples of what some owners have done to their HP2's, not to mention where they take them. Kind of a cult bike now.

Had the opportunity to pick one up a while back, but decided not to. Too tall for me and old tech.
