Another vote for the TKC70's. Yes, they do cup at the end of their life but they are still sticky. I push the hell out of them and they work! I know several on here like the Stinko's but I can't get my head around using them.

Ever tried Stinkos? We need a set to go 6000 miles for Colorado 2020, or maybe just pln on a new set in Gunnison or wherever we stay for a couple of days. The problem with tires is we need Pilot Road 5s for 12 days and TKC80s for 3 days.
Given our last 7 years of exile it will be a good problem to have.

If this was my trip, I'd put on new tires for the ride out, swap for TKC80's, then get as far back home as possible. Re-evaluate and plan to swap them on the trip home. I know, costly but that'd be the best of all worlds and you'd get home with some tire wear left.

As already posted, not interested in the 1250 or we'd already have one. 10 hp for 11 pounds just doesn't interest me. We looked at the new 850GS but since we'd already owned the 2014 R1200GS we knew the 2018 would be comfy and have adequate power. You should get a 1250 though.

p.s. Doug, at least you were smart enough to put all yours in to one pile. It's a lot easier to see where it went when you do it your way.

Ironically it's looking like TKC70s at this point. I hate changing tires on a trip as it takes a day away from actually being on vacay. We've got a lot of time to decide but I enjoy researching stuff. Stinko's seem to separate on the blocks (has to be true, read it on the internet.), already know the TKC80s don't last long (but grip is excellent off road!), a 90/10 are usually lousy off road, the TKC70s and K60s spin easily on gravel or mud due to the solid center tread (which is exactly why they get good mileage). K60s are also lousy in the wet, allegedly. So it's official, I'm in Goldilocks land. The good news, 9 working days until we begin wearing out the Anakee III's. !!
