Finally getting my bike in for its break-in service tomorrow. Riverfurm I hope you're finally getting that new bike out on the road!

Oh, and I did the obnoxiously loud horn and dash cam install.

My brand spankin' new R1300GS came with Michelin Anakee Adventure tires on it. It became apparent pretty early on that these were some hella noisy tires. Now I've run TKC80 and Wilds on my 1200GS and would happily tolerate the racket they'd make for the performance off road but these sissy pants looking tires making all that noise just wouldn't do. I finally got 600 miles on the new bike and last week took it in for its complimentary break-in service and that's when I chucked those Michelins in the bin and put on a set of Dunlop Trailmax Missions which is what I'd been running for a long time on my 1200GS. Here's a video of part of my ride in to the dealer on the Anakee Adventure tires and part of my ride home on the Dunlops:

The Dunlops aren't completely silent but they're night and day better than the AA tires.

Not only quieter, but the AA's make an annoying sound.

What's a guy to do when the riding weather is lousy? Spend more money on shit for the bike! Every source I could find on the internet said it couldn't be done. Denali said it couldn't be done to install the one piece Soundbomb on the bike. So I didn't buy a Soundbomb. I bought a bigger louder air horn at a fraction of the price. I replaced the sissy pants horn on the left with the obnoxious offensive weapon on the right:

It's completely fine and clear turning lock to lock. It measures a close fit if you believe the specs on the bike's suspension travel. I modified the mounting bracket for more clearance and have now thoroughly stressed tested the install. Works like a charm. When I took the bike in for the break-in service I warned them about the horn for when the tech tests it. It's pretty interesting what you see and hear on your dash cam when they don't realize they're being recorded

      Speaking of the dash cam:

Come to the VT rally in June and have a seat built. Theyll make adjustments to make it to your liking.

After spending three straight weeks traveling on the OEM seat I may be highly motived to do as you say!

I had mine made in 2016 by Rocky Mayer’s guys. He died soon afterwards but the guys are still running the business. I had them do a repair to mine last year at the Nashville rally. When they built it I test rode it several times until it was to my liking.
      Working...
