Sheesh, it's about time Honda woke up and started competing in the liter bike market. No word yet on the price of the 2020 Fireblade but I'm guessing it'll be quite pricey.

I have not seen any mention of a updated S1000R. Has BMW decided to drop it ?

I should have some printed reportage of the EICMA shortly. I subscribe to Motorad Magazin. (https://www.motorradonline.de/)

Looks like the S1000R is still in the program Lee and 250 Euros more expensive than last year. New color - San Marino Blue Metallic:

They have a lot of variations on the Nine T platform but I never see one anywhere. Would it kill them to offer a faired up version of the S1000R for touring?

It seems like the BMW Motorrad marketing brains have decided the ongoing strategy for sport/touring is the R1250 or the K16. What would be interesting would be someone offering an aftermarket fairing and luggage/racks for the S1000. A quarter fairing with a bit of wind protection or even just a small windscreen?

There's an interesting epic ride report on ADVRider of a gal that did a several thousand mile road/adv ride on an R9T and she had it kitted out pretty nice.

I'm impressed with the broad range of bikes that BMW offers over all. I wonder if there's going to be renewed interest in a 600cc class motard or super sport and if there's some increasing interest out there in an S600RR type bike with all the technology on it. It would likely cost within several hunnert dollars of the S1000RR so maybe that's why they haven't done it.

Will be interesting to see if Aprilia's 660 is a big seller. May push manufacturers like BMW to get involved. It's all about selling bikes.

And the S1000XR did not get the shiftcam in its new motor. Same power, a few # lighter. Meh! Atleast they got the TFT and LED headlamps in. My 18 is safe.

Seems like it's 20 pounds lighter.
It has neat little storage areas in front of the tank and under the rear seat.
I think it has TPM now.
                  The panniers have changed.
