Tools needed to check and adjust valves

Here is a list of tools to do the valves on a pre 2020 S bike:
    Timing tensioner: 83 302 152 867
    TDC locator & lock: 83 302 152 853
    Alignment jig: 83 302 152 855
    Camshaft turning tool: 83 302 152 881
And buy the service DVD to tell you how to do it. (plus a lot of other jobs on the bikes)

Those marks are observed after you install the sprockets as a check that you have done it correctly. One of the pictures in the dvd has the marks backwards to make it even easier, not. be careful and put it back just the same as you pulled it out. When all together the marks will be parallel with the reference surface and lined up with each other. Go slow and re read as needed. Don't drop the chain. Before I start I tie wrap the sprockets to the chain as I remember. Once you start it all makes sense. Good time to put new orings in the tensioner also.

Thanks Beech. I did the o rings a little while ago. Torqued the tensioner housing to to the recommended setting but still had chain noise. Undid the fasteners and nipped them up by hand. All good now. It seems that the tensioner body is very easy to distort jamming the piston inside

Yes, I have seen other posts about the need to draw down the screws evenly. The front one is hard to get a wrench end on.
