The cops have yet more technology with "LIDAR", https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LIDAR_traffic_enforcement - one of my riding buddies just got popped in his car so I'm not sure which detector works with this? I do know that anywhere other than urban environments I keep my old Escort 850 off as the proximity detectors in the current generation of cars set it off enough to cause headaches - on rural roads with the Legal Speeding connection it works well for K & KA. I'm getting a new Schuberth helmet with the built in receiver and earphones I'll probably be looking at a more modern detector with Blue tooth. So the search begins, right after a new set of tires!Comment

It's not the best performing detector you can use but the Adaptive TPX has a number of other features that have me still happy with it. It's waterproof so it can stay on the bike and even be hard wired to a switched circuit so I don't have to think about it. It has the HARD transmitter built in to it so if you're looking to use that system all you need is the receiver installed in your hat. It also is configurable to filter out the noisier bands - I still get the occasional false alert but it's not annoying. And finally, when I ride with others using an escort of some model or the other, my warnings come on about the same time as theirs (we're all on an intercom channel talking to each other).
I must be getting old and soft because I ride in a way that a radar detector hasn't saved me in the last several years. Fast in the corners, slow in the straights, and don't come steaming into towns where the limits drop quickly. Yes, brevity isn't normally my thing, but I should have added that I have not yet "tuned" the R7. There is a lot of suggestions online for turning on/off certain frequency bands. Sadly, the segments used by auto manufactures are not standardized, and it sounds like Honda picked a band which is extremely close to a legitimate band used by the police... thus filtering those out comes with an accepted risk.Originally posted by Capnrip View Post

Hahahaha... I sold my old V1 last year, it had served me great. I'm not so silly to say that I will never be back, but for the time being, the Uniden R7 has been serving me quite nicely. Once nice feature that I never knew that I needed (enabled by being GPS equipped) is that I'm able to set it to auto mute under a certain speed. Auto muted alerts at under 35mph for me while traveling through town.

Got me a Escort Redline360c for xmas.
Have to take it out for a spin today in the cage to get used to its features. Magnetic mount new to me.
Has both BT and WiFi. No audio out port. Maybe I can use my phone as pass through to me Sena. Will report back.Chattanooga, TN

I upgraded to the Valentine One gen 2 earlier this past fall. False negatives are dramatically decreased and It is advertised as having the longest range. We'll see when they get tested. No complaints with it's operation compared to the gen 1 that I sent in via their upgrade program.

Just bought myself a V1 Gen 2 for Xmas along with a Cardo Scala JBL comm system. The plan is to remove the Starcomm 1 wired comm system and roll with the bluetooth Cardo system with the bluetooth from the V1 paired with the phone through the V1 app and the phone then paired to the comm system. From what I've read on advrider there is virtually zero delay from when the detector goes off to getting the audio alert from the app on the phone. Haven't installed everything yet to test but I'm hopeful everything works as planned. Still have my Bel Magnum (formerly STI driver before an upgrade) that'll I'll probably send in to Bel to get it upgraded again and then move it to the car.Comment
