Yeah it's more than a year away but the tickets just went on sale. I've never been to one and going to the MotoGP in Austin this year kinda kicked an F1 race to nearer the top of my bucket list. I tried to score something for the F1 race in Austin but was shut out and not willing to pay scalper rates. American Express had a preferred early access day and I jumped the site waiting room waiting for them to open up. When it did it said there were 2000+ people in line ahead of me. When I finally got offered tickets, every choice was already sold - it was a real cluster trying over and over again for about an hour every time telling me the tickets I selected were already sold. Then why the F did it offer them to me? I've never tried harder to throw that much money at someone that didn't want it. Anywho, we finally scored two seats in the MSG area which I hope is sort of a stadium with views to several corners (and was cheaper than the start/finish grandstand area.)
This is way outside my comfort zone on expense but here's the thing - our only remaining child still at home is headed to college next fall. My wife and I will be in an empty nest for the first time ever. So basically we're looking at it as spending this shitwad of their inheritance on soothing our separation anxiety. We're not really drawn to Las Vegas (been there done that) but F1 on the strip and with all the fanfare of that looks to be something pretty different..
Anyone else going to this stupidly expensive race?
