    Read a good book lately?

Back due to popular demand. I tend to favor fiction detective series, action adventure, escapism kind of stuff.

Just finished "Terminal List" by Jack Carr - A black ops Seal Team member's near entire team gets wiped out on an ill conceived mission, team leader and survivor of the mission Jack Reece, sets out on finding out what went wrong, and how to get even. An enjoyable read in the Vince Flynn/Mitch Rapp - Lee Child/Jack Reacher model with a conspiracy reaching to very high levels of government. Good guy takes out bad guys.

Also have been enjoying the Joe Pickett series by C.J. Box, a Wyoming game warden gets into and out of trouble on a regular basis. Colorful descriptions of the environs, and engaging characters. First in the series, "Open Season"

Very interesting read, especially how these chemicals can illuminate our connection to all of nature......at least that's what they did for me.How to Change Your Mind: What the New Science of Psychedelics Teaches Us About Consciousness, Dying, Addiction, Depression, and Transcendence is a 2018 book by Michael Pollan. It chronicles the long and storied history of psychedelic drugs, from their turbulent 1960s heyday to the resulting countermovement and backlash. Through his coverage of the recent resurgence in this field of research, as well as his own personal use of psychedelics via a "mental travelogue", Pollan seeks to illuminate not only the mechanics of the drugs themselves, but also the inner workings of the human mind and consciousness.

Currently reading "Stranger Beside Me," by Anne Rule (my all-time favorite author). True crime regarding the story of Ted Bundy. They were friends before he started killing and she was prior law enforcement, which shows what a chameleon he was. It was her first of 35 bestsellers; my goal is to read all of her books.

OK Craig, Mr. ADHD here finally read a book. One of the James Lee Burke ones abut Dave Robicheaux. Was a long flight to Australia. Enjoyed it as I spent a good part of my early years in southern Louisiana.

Principles of economics by G.N. Mankiw. Fascinating, captivating, immersive. To say I could not get enough would be a lie.

After Craig mentioned this series I've read most of them. I'll read a couple then move onto something else for awhile.
The next one I'll read in that series is Light Of The World, #20.

I also read a series recommended by Pirate.
Agent Pendergast series by Preston & Child
The next one I'll read is The City Of Endless Night, #17.

IIf you liked Burke, try Lawrence Block's Matt Scudder series, first in the series, "Sins of the Father" - the way Burke describes Southern Louisiana with the humidity and the Spanish moss hanging from the trees,, Block describes New York City, you can feel the grit of the streets.

Just finished a wonderful reading. "Heirs of the Founders" by H. W. Brands. It covers the politics of Henry Clay, John Calhoun and Daniel Webster from early 19th century till their deaths. Tells of early arguments over the War of 1812, the Missouri Compromise, the Carolina Compromise, the California 'free or slave' issue. The introduction of a freshman representative to be Speaker of the House (H. Clay). A tremendous amount of politics and working together to make things happen. An apparent lost art...

I am as conservative as anyone on this forum, but often read stuff that is "out there." A great book by crazy Gore Vidal is simply titled "Burr." Absolutely fascinating and an interesting counterpoint to the current adoration of Alexander Hamilton. In Burr, Vidal takes historically know facts about Burr's live and times, and then weaves a terrific story that puts the parts together. Even assuming that Vidal made up half of the story, it is still a wonder read for anyone interested in history. Gonejonesin, if you liked Brands work, you will likely love Vidal's Burr.

I have read the Mike Bowditch series (10 books) by Paul Doiron. He is a Maine game warden solving murders in the state. Good stuff!

I just read "The Art Of Racing In The Rain" by Garth Stein. It's story is told from a dog's perspective. I totally enjoyed it.

Just read 'Teminal List' as per CJ350's recommendation. I loved it. I already placed a hold on the next in the series, "True Believer". Thanks.

Last week I finished John Grisham's The Reckoning.
I usually like Grisham books but this one was pretty boring.
