Have you landed at some of these, Paul? Or any that you would consider more challenging?

I shot 6 of the 9 approaches. And yes, there are more scarier airports....google Lukla Nepal!

They left off the shortest commercial service runway in the world at Saba.

It looks even crazier sitting in the seat behind the pilot.

I can tell you that, with 19 passengers aboard, I was convinced that we were going to feel the wheels roll off the end and sink but he was able to rotate right at the end and get us aviating with a couple of feet to spare. They basically chopped the top off of that pinnacle to make the airport. Flyboy, I'd hate to be confronted with an aborted take off there. My rule was 80% of my short field take off speed before the 1/2 way point on the runway. The only time I was ever close to that was leaving Mathis near Atlanta in my Pitts S2C. That's a 1500' table top with no margin at either end. I made 2 low passes before I put the wheels on the ground landing there.

Thanks, Flyboy. You guys with turbines and hot-rod biplanes can have all of that you want.

I like the ones where the computer tells you you're a retard for landing there

I've gone flying and ended up swimming before. I went out for an aerobatic practice session over the eastern shore of Maryland and on my way back to Lee Airport over the Chesapeake Bay, it suddenly got quiet. Long store short I put it in the South River off the London Towne Public House pier in about 15' of water. It was Memorial Day weekend so there were a lot of boaters around to pull us out of the water and we threw a float on the tail wheel so we could come back and get it. After all the commotion died down (news helicopters, DNR and County Police, ambulance/EMTs left the scene) I went home and got my boat and came back over. A SeaTow guy put balloons on it and I hauled it back to the creek at the end of the runway at Lee and we pulled it back to the hanger with a lawn tractor. Airplane totaled due to salt water and not a scratch on me or my passenger. There's an incident report on the NTSB database about it.

There was a short/failure of the ignition switch that somehow grounded both P-leads. Everything is redundant except for the thing you put the key into....

Damn man! That's quite a story. I'm guessing you probably worried about your own well being for a moment. Why aren't you coming to Colorado this summer? You and Fly could come out together.?

I'd be all over that trip including the adventure ride Bill is planning. It falls in the middle of family trip to Spain in July.

Reminds me of the story my father told of a farmer that was working the fields plowing with a mule......
The mule suddenly keeled over and dropped dead. The farmer standing there with the reins over his
shoulder and a puzzled look on hi face says, "Huh, never done that before!"
