    Dream Trip

Lots of you have done some really cool trips. What would be a dream trip or just one you'd really like to do? Aside from a Texas bar hopping trip with Curt, I've always wanted to do US route 89 from Arizona to the Canadian border. 89 goes through or near the Grand Canyon, Bryce, Grand Teton, Yellowstone and Glacier National Park. I did some of it in the car with family once, would love to do it on a bike. I bought some petrified dinosaur shit from a rock shop in Orderville, Utah. Was pretty cheap. I thought fossilized shit would be more expensive.

Greg Curtis was at my place this last weekend and we discussed a return to Vientiane, Laos. We did the north eleven years ago. It would be a dream trip to return and do the south.

Having been to the Isle of Man TT this year and the Northwest 200 in Northern Ireland, my dream trip would be to ship my K1300R to Dublin, Ireland and travel around Ireland and Northern Ireland, drinking Guinness and attending all of the road races there. There's lots of little races that most people have never heard of. I would spend some time in Joey's Bar in Ballymoney, Northern Ireland drinking Guinness.
Then I'd put the bike on the ferry and head across to Isle of Man for the TT. Every morning I'd get up early and ride the mountain course. During TT the mountain section of the course is one way and no speed limit. Doing it early means that I'd hopefully get in a few Click image for larger version Name: Views:	1 Size:	145.4 KB ID:	2047Click image for larger version Name: Views:	1 Size:	267.1 KB ID:	2048Click image for larger version Name: Views:	1 Size:	289.2 KB ID:	2049Click image for larger version Name: Views:	1 Size:	215.9 KB ID:	2050Click image for larger version Name: Views:	1 Size:	161.0 KB ID:	2051Click image for larger version Name: Views:	1 Size:	105.3 KB ID:	2052Click image for larger version Name: Views:	1 Size:	171.2 KB ID:	2053Click image for larger version Name: Views:	1 Size:	232.0 KB ID:	2054Click image for larger version Name: Views:	1 Size:	136.3 KB ID:	2057Click image for larger version Name: Views:	1 Size:	177.9 KB ID:	2058Click image for larger version Name: Views:	1 Size:	130.2 KB ID:	2059 laps before someone had a crash and they closed the road for a clean up.

After TT I'd get the ferry to England and then tour around Wales and head up to tour around Scotland and then ship the bike back home.

This would be about an 8 to 10 week trip and cost around $25K Australian including shipping, airfares etc

          In no particular order:
          • I've ridden to the Edge of the World. Next up would be to Ride to the Roof of the World, despite no longer being able to ride up to Everest Base Camp
          • Another Lap of Oz, this time a figure 8
          • Ride New Zealand
          • Visit my favourite Martian in Montreal and ride east to west and up to Alaska
          That'll do for now

Oz, NZ and Tasmania for a few months. Much like Morton's trip. I'd like to ride like Pete, to the tip of South America and back. But who has the time and money for all that?

LOL! Yeah, I put Tas in there because of the separation. Like saying I want to visit Spain and Mallorca (which I do!). Or Italy and Sardinia. Something along those lines. Different travel arrangements and such.

You really got to pick your time of the year visiting Tassie. I've been in late May, chilly and overnight snow on the west coast. And October a couple of years ago. That year they'd been in flood since May that year. We were on KTM Adventurers and Triumph Explorers. We wanted to do the Sandy Cape Track that hugs the west coast and pop into check out those remote fishing shacks but lots of bridges were washed out and roads closed and we just could not get through. The weather dried up when we got further south and into the Franklin-Gordon Wild Rivers National Park. We did manage some shitty shale tracks up and down the mounts on Bruny Island. East coast was dry. Couldn't get to Ben Lomond (my wish-list) because it was snowed in and vehicle access to the track was cut. Port Arthur is worth spending a day at too. So anyway, I'm up for another trip back whenever youse guys are ready.

It's so hard to say, since there are so many places I'd like to go on a bike. I guess if I could, I think a ride circumventing the Mediterranean would be cool. I'd love to visit some of those ancient little towns & villages built on the shores of Spain & the cliffs in Italy.

But like Joe said, who's got the time & money to do something like that, yet people do it. I've read some pretty incredible ride reports on AdvRider & here's one in particular posted by a guy who began his 6 year worldwide tour & may still be at it. Absolutely worth your time reading & makes my ride reports pale in comparison by a significant degree.

Everything we have out ot state will fit into the Jeep. Our furniture is here, tags and license are now NC, we're just running out the clock. We will still find work for a few years but we will work from NC and we will NOT tow or carry laptops on any trips again. Ever!!!!!!!!!!!!
