Covid news from Andorra - you couldn't make this up

So we exited full lockdown the first weekend in June - there are still restrictions such as wearing a mask in public areas where you can't maintain a sensible distance etc. And there were no new cases for a few weeks. Then we opened the border with Spain and since then we've been averaging maybe 3 to 5 new cases a day but its all well under control and few if any of these new cases are in hospital.

So I checked the stats yesterday and we had.......19 new cases on Wednesday. WTF is going on I asked myself and yesterday evening I got the answer/ These new cases have been traced to a "club" otherwise known as a brothel, a few miles into Spain. These establishments are not allowed in Andorra but prostitution has been legal in Spain since 1995 so it would seem that some Andorran men who weren't getting enough decided to part with some Euros at this "club" called "Tu trias" which translates as "You choose" in English, where they didn't catch the clap but did catch the virus.

They must be the only people who paid to catch it!

Some of them must be married so their wives must be less than pleased that (a) their husband has the Virus and (b) has been playing away with a prostitute!

So local advice now is that if you really feel the need then (a) wear a mask and (b) do it doggy style!!

Doggy style is extra, or so I have heard from a friend...

Glad to hear things are going relatively well there Weishman. Here in the USA not so much and the pity is that it is self inflicted.

Yes, the government here took decisive action early on. No messing about. So apart from when I need to go shopping for food/drink when I need to wear a mask and wear gloves - provided FOC - it's life pretty much as normal. The consensus here is that this virus is fairly contagious but if you're not in an at risk category at worst it's like the flu. Also a great many people have had it and been completely unaware of it. Pretty much the whole population - around 70,000 - took tests 2 weeks apart in late May early June and they found about 8.5% of the population - about 6,000 people - had antibodies i.e. they had had the virus but hadn't noticed anything and there were an additional 79 active cases - again people completely unaware they had it.

My own view is that you need to carry on as normal but anyone in one of the at risk categories needs to take great care.
