Had the same thing happen with a bank when buying a motorcycle privately....
His bank wouldn't give me the title until the cashier's check cleared. The two
banks are next door to each other. I brought cash to the bank and then they
couldn't find the title AFTER they took my money. I said, give me my money
back then! They said they couldn't do that. I lit up the phone lines up the
chain of command and they found the title in half an hour!

Rob, I suggest going the SHAD route for bags. Excellent. Even their top case.

The title finally arrived late yesterday, and this morning I was at the tag office. $431 later (mostly for NC sales tax), I was legal. Well, I may never be legal, but the bike is.
I’d rather think someone’s a son of a bitch than to have him think I’m a son of a bitch.

Glad you finally got it. I bought my current bike from a dealer on ebay. Had it shipped. They gave the documents to the shipper but wouldn't give him the key. So I had the bike sitting in the garage for a week or so with no key for it. One of my buddies nicknamed it the paperweight.

I bought the f800gt from Greensboro BMW on august 10. the title cleared today for me to pay the property taxes and transfer the old tag. They had to send me 3 temp dealer tags.
I got all kind of excuses, from fed ex losing the paperwork, to dmv not knowing how to transfer a handicapped tag, to slow USPS.
I checked with the dmv and they told me there was no problem or reason not to transfer the tag.
The man in charge of dmv in winston-salem was so upset that they had to issue 3 temp tags from august, that he sent me a complaint form to fill out against the dealer.
I called John back at the dealer and told him about the complaint form and the name of the man in charge at dmv.
I got a call back in 2 hours that the title had cleared dmv and the tag was good to transfer.

They also had the K1200GT on consignment from August and never listed it on their web site, or moved it to the showroom.
They were going to list it for $4000 and charge me $800. that is why I finally took it back and posted it for $2000
I had a buyer the second day..

I sure do miss the old owner of the shop.
