Wuhan Boredom

One of the byproducts of being homebound and all this Wuhan biz, is having a little extra time on your hands. Among other things, I've re-discovered some old TV shows that originally aired back in the 80's & 90's, that I never watched when they were on. I get a good laugh with the dialog, story line, copious amounts of T & A, sexual innuendo, the car chases, the fashions, the hair styles, the technology, etc. Another fun thing about them is every once a while, you'll see an actor who was a nobody at that point in their career or they were stars, but not big stars or stars that were at the end of their careers & it's fun seeing them so young. George Clooney, Johnathan Banks (Mike; Breaking Bad/Better Call Saul), Issac Hayes, James Whitmore, Jr., Garrett Morris, Linda Blair, Sammy Davis, Jr., among others. They're a gas to watch... they're sooooo bad, they're good! My 2 favorites are cop shows:

I'd forgotten that back in those days, a typical season consisted of 20-25 episodes. These days a season might be 9-10 episodes, if that. Of course, along with all the other attributes listed above, there's the stereotyped roles that were cast. Like Garrett Morris' character, Sporty James, who is the hip black dude on the street and who knows all the dirt & scuttle butt around town. Or when they go undercover... the girl cop almost always is a hooker or drug addict. The big downside are the commercials. Every one is targeted at seniors for things like Medicare, California Psychics, Dr. Ho's Foot Massager, walk-in tubs, Life Alert and all the rest. Too funny. I ordered the Life Alert & Dr. Ho's foot massager with express delivery.

Actually, I need to get going on that thing but of course a lift would be a big help but that's not in the cards anytime soon.

TJ Hooker was the worst. William Shatner must have needed the money. The bright side was a young Heather Locklear.

Also Starsky and Hutch could be the poster boys for your qualifications. Always amazed me how that Torino could squeal tires on a dirt road.

That's the point Wes! These shows are sooooooo bad, they're good! The absolute worse so far, are the Bionic Woman reruns. I watched one last night where Helen Hunt was the guest star, who was about 14 or so in '78. Super dumb story, situations, plot, etc., & you're left wondering, how could this show have possibly made it past the pilot?

And you're right about the cars... in Silk Stalkings they use front wheel drive Oldsmobile's & Buick's and they're always screeching the tires from a standing start. I doubt seriously when those cars were in production, they could peel out with tires smoking. I do like how they blow away the bad guys with no questions asked and no regrets. Make my day indeed.

Charlie's Angels comes on one of the local channels here. I laugh at the cars on there, all Fords. Even Farrah Fawcett couldn't make a Pinto look cool. Was my first car by the way.

If Netflix would show Taxi and WKRP I would watch those again.
