Nope, but close. 64 goes through Transylvania. The old fun 64 is going away. They are straightening and widening. Anyone riding through Franklin NC watch for speed traps.

Who would ever exceed the speed limit?

Is there any good parts of 64 left?

Be aware of the WNC summer resident roadblocks. A glass of tea wouldn't fall over in the curves but when they come up on a straight part of the road, they manage to find that gas pedal.

We live 1/2 mile off of US 64 in Laurel Park NC (or will in 41 days). Back in 1991 we lived 500 feet off of US 64 in Sapphire NC. It begins in Manteo NC and ends in the Navajo Nation at the intersection of US 160 near 4 Corners. With the exceptions of avoiding the cities we've been on most of it and enjoyed it. Wish we were out there today.

US 64 in New Mexico, loaded 2-up.
