    Insider Info on Covid

One of my customers sent me this:

Director of International Infectious Disease at Mass General Hospital joined a call with the partners and managers of my firm.

1 Close to 100% of the positive cases in MA are Omicron. Delta is almost completely gone from New England.

2 This surge will peak sometime between 1/10 and 1/21 and then begin a quick downhill journey of two to four weeks.
3 We will end up with a 20-50% positivity rate.
4 February will be clean up mode, March will begin to return to "normal"
5 Omicron lives in your nose and upper respiratory area which is what makes it so contagious. It isn't able to bond with your lungs like the other variants.
6 The increased hospitalizations should be taken with a grain of salt as most of them are secondary admissions (i.e. people coming in for surgery, broken bones, etc. who are tested for COVID)
7 We won't need a booster for omicron because they wouldn't be able to develop one before it's completely gone and we're all going to get it which will give us the immunity we need to get through it.
8 COVID will join the 4 other coronaviruses we deal with that cause the common cold, upper respiratory infections, RSV, etc. It will become a pediatric disease mainly affecting young children with no immunity.
9 40% of those infected will be asymptomatic
10 Rapid tests are 50-80% sensitive to those with symptoms, only 30-60% sensitive to those without symptoms
11 Contact tracing is worthless because we're all going to get it and there's no way we could keep up with it.
12 We are fighting the last war with COVID and should be pivoting back to normal life, but society isn't quite ready for it yet.
13 There is no need to stay home from work or to be a hermit unless you're immunocompromised or 85 or older, but he does recommend staying away from large gatherings for the next six weeks.
14 Spring/Summer will be really nice!

Reasonable assumption, but needed 10 characters to post. Interestingly enough periods don't count as characters.

I guess I'm an "insider" now, too.

About Dec. 30th, Cathy and I came down with colds and snot while visiting grandkids in Houston. We were tired (largely from chasing little grandkids). I had two days of a real scratchy and irritated throat. Back in Oklahoma we decided to get tested and see our local doc. COVID!

If not for the current hysteria, we would never have gone to the doc. It was like a bad cold you might catch once every few years. We are both double vaxed (Moderna). Although the current president said that those of us who got the double vax wouldn't catch covid, we did.

But thank goodness it wasn't as bad as it could have been . . . I rubbed my Choctaw medicine bag on my throat and chest as soon as I had symptoms. That kept covid from killing me. But if you all had just done your part and rubbed medicine bags of one tribe or another on your chests, too, none of us would have caught it. Don't be selfish. Do your part.

I'm not sure the OZ bags you guys seem to know so much about will actually work. But, go ahead and try; knock yourselves out.

In Sydney airport they sell tanned kangaroo scrotums to use as little bags. Not sure of the medicinal properties. Wasn't exactly lucky for the Roo.

Pete used to have a pair hanging off the back of his KRS. I think I heard they're illegal in Florida now.

They have a covid cure but it was given to a young girl for safekeeping she was kidnapped by Hillary Clinton (or was it JFK?) and is being held by lizard people in a space ship on the dark side of the moon. An informant says she's sleeping well though. She gets a new pillow every night.

10 billion people vaccinated and no paper clips flying through the air. 70 percent USA vaccinated and 90 percent of US hospitalizations are the unvaccinated. Fake news no doubt. It's a scary world out there.

Daughter text me Monday not to stop by, that my 11 y/o grandson tested +.
"Just a persistent cough and he is annoying as ever"
Not isolating him, other two can go to school. Sounds like life goes on....
Pretty much treating it like any other bug going around.

I do stay away for now only because I have a lot of work to get done and
I go into people's homes. I've found it a good reason to tell people to not
be in the same room as me.
Woke up at 3:00 AM yesterday morning, eyes were sore, temp normal and
I thought I'd take note of things..... Did my usual morning workout, showered
and felt fine, so I went to work. Figured it was a lack of sleep thing.
Feedback I get from home owners now is, "Yeh, we got the shots, had it,
              everyone is fine."

My regular guy behind the counter at my supply house always wore a good
mask but was out last week with Covid. The fat, bearded, cigarette smoking,
wears a bandana sometimes, non-believer guy at the next counter is fine. He
only got vaccinated because his wife made him, he said.
              Go figure!

Since we're telling stories.. My high school sweetheart who I traveled all over the world with has died in a small hospital in Maryland. She had COPD and had destroyed her liver by excessive drinking. While a morphine drip was called for this was not possible because of the overcrowded conditions in the hospital. 90% of the hospital is filled with Covid infected people. 90% of those people are unvaccinated.

My hair dresser lady's husband, pretty similar story.
Also am sorry to hear this Pete.
Another lady watched her partner die as see looked on via iPad because they weren't allowed in.
