    junk bikes

I was just thinking that those old K bikes {K1200S,RS,GT. R) must have been crap bikes because one could log in to multiple BMW sites and read posts on HELP, HOW DO I, WTF, etc) and people would reply with videos on how to and "l had the same problem" or "here is how you can...". Nowadays, it seems we have a lot of jokes and a lot less "how to" or replies to "wtf" posts. Jokes and stuff are fine, but there seems to be a lot less of the "fix it like this" info. There are less add-on parts to put on the bikes. If you can recall way back when, the dreaded word "farkle" was in multiple posts a day. Now, you never see if. I'm being sarcastic about the bikes being junk. They were great. Maybe there is less need for the "how to" posts. Times have changed, I guess. Maybe everyone has a GS now and they are completely satisfied with the bike and there are no problems. :-)

I hardly ever see an older K bike out in the wild. I imagine there are fewer being ridden, fewer needs, and fewer manufacturers of aftermarket parts.

I was at Barber Museum yesterday and there was a K12RS Taxi on the rack.
It brought back fond memories of the days when I had my '02 and first joined the
      site of like minded owners.
I see them for sale sometimes and then think of the problems they had with the
rear seals, air box, ABS and other gremlins.....
If I'd kept mine when I got my first GS I'm sure it wouldn't see much riding time.

The collection "rotates" so they may have a KS...just not showing when you were there. It seems like the bikes they have on display are ones that have earned some fame...one way or another. Opinions will disagree but I think the bumblebee KS was one of the most stylish/attractive bikes they've made. Quality...that's another matter. LOL!

The guy told me they have over twelve hundred bikes on display
and another eight hundred and fifty in storage.
In the lobby was a radial engine chopper and a turbine powered cruiser.

I guess in my older years, I'm wishing for the '"good old days". I don't think the last two years, especially the last one year, will ever be thought of as the good old days. I had a 2004 zebra rs (blue/white). Great bike and then I saw the 2007 cosmic blue, midnight black and silver K1200s. I just had to have it. I sold that at 76,000 miles. The GS will have to outlast me.

As Doug said, that (GS) too will pass. Its the way things are now. Then there is always the EV coming soon.

I'm thinking this site is more campfire than garage. Might be because it is not model or make limited although it does lean towards BMW.

Still riding my 04 GT. Still nice none of the "problems" has ever shown up. Knock on WOOD. Vic really killed the technical part of the group when his site went dark. Had to break out the manual the other day used to just search on the site....

A lot was lost in the archives too when it was taken over.

Saw this in the wild Saturday at Barber.

I was walking back to my pits from the rider's meeting and saw this immaculate K13S taped up and ready to take on the track. It was parked in an area that I could see from my pits and when the rider came back I went to speak with him. Since he rode it to the track day, he did not have a pit area set up so I invited him to come and enjoy my company, which he foolishly did!!

Derek was a very cool fellow, from the area, and was hustling the big girl on the track. He invited me to dinner with some of his friends (also a local couple) and it was a sincere pleasure to meet him.

The K bike is dead. Long live the K bike! Yes, there are still some flying around. I've not seen a zebra or old GT in a LOOONNNG time. Really bikes that were super without being a superbike.

Loggie and Allikanbe, I hope you all are talking about "Bricks," and not K1300's! Just my luck, I've recently acquired one.

              I owned a 2004 K12RS and a 2007 K12S. I was talking about those super bikes.
