Good move. We saw Tyson's "new" K1300S in Bandera last week and since it's all new to him here are some K1300S tips.
-- passenger seat no-slip cover, Tribo Seat
-- instrument panel rings from Hornig
-- side case packing, load the lid, not the case. Loading the lid allows the bag liner to conform to the case. Loading the case then closing the lid causes the liner to get jammed between the case and the lid. This will eventually cause the hinge to fail.
-- Helibars. They will add a lot of comfort.
-- valve adjustments. every 30k or so. Yep, pretty much just ignore the factory 12k recommendation.
-- tail bag. We use the SW Moto Ion bag to hold winter gloves, two electric jacket liners, and a pair of tennis shoes.
-- tires, we prefer the Michelin PR4. Will try the Road 6 next. We didn't like the Road 5s. The 4s had better wet road grip leaned over, contrary to the reviews.
-- brake pads, check the rear every few thousand miles! We prefer DP or EBC pads.
-- carbon fiber, we used Motocomposites. Bestem didn't have the dash side panels so that was a deal breaker for using them.
-- oil changes. Drain the pan and reservoir, replace the filter, and don't fret the 3.96 quart level. Just fill the reservoir, crank the bike (yep), and add oil to the reservoir as the level drops. Anywhere near the full mark is fine. It's a dry sump and isn't finicky about the oil being at the low, mid, or high reservoir mark.
-- owners manual, in case it goes missing.
-- gasoline, she just asked for a drink, she didn't ask what it costs. We've used 87 octane in a pinch. I couldn't detect any knock but I would only do this if the option was running out.
-- tire pressure two-up. The OM says 42/36 but go to 38/44.
-- Ride. Eat. Repeat.

Thanks, Tim. 44 rear 38 front. Is that on the TPM display, or is that gauge level on cold tires? And, I think you always have used Michelins. If you have used different brands, did you use these pressures on those, too?
The bags? I think for a long time I might view them as a pain in the ass. The Triumph's seem cavernous in comparison.
By the way, Beech, the Red bike is pretty. I'm partial to that color. Some believe it is the fastest color.

I just sold my 2013 black through Cycletrader. There wasn't much interest in March and then all of a sudden a flurry. I have to say I was it was a hard decision. I know you all can relate when I say I have more affection for that bike then almost all others I've had. In every aspect it was superb; hard to beat the combination of raw power, handling, suspension, sound of the inline four with the Remus exhaust, beautiful design, and comfort. She will be missed, but needs change so it was time to move on.
