Harassment on the Road

How do you handle cagers / their passengers harassing you when you are on two wheels?

For example, throwing stuff as they pass.

Not common around here but it happens.

Is this a bicycle question because I don't think many here get passed by cagers?

Mike, It applies to both bicycles and motorcycles. Usually on a motorcycle they are going the opposite direction. On a bicycle, they can be going either way.

On the way to the Georgia Mountain Rally many years ago, I had a guy coming towards me in a pick up truck move partially over into my lane and swung his door out at me. He was probably upset by all of the bikes in the area. Nothing personal.

One of my buddies, back in the 80's, strapped a holstered air pistol across his back when riding his bicycle in town.

Usually just wave and keep going. If the car / truck in front is trying to block I'll usually pick a strategic place to pass, but nearly all of those in hindsight may not have been the best idea. There are more idiots driving over the centerline now that ever and they're not even the ones intentionally harassing motorcycles.

I've never really had an issue that I can remember. Must be my courteous driving and boyish good looks. On the rare occasion I pass someone in a no passing zone or pass a bunch of folks in a passing zone I get past and away quickly before I slow back down. I figure on the K bike a good run beats a bad stand.

Almost killed by a Audi SV the other day on the bike! Wish I had a rock!
