Incredibly sad news - MartinD

I am devastated to write this today. I received a phone call from Martin yesterday regarding his health. Shortly after returning from his epic summer motorcycle trip, he began to experience excruciating pain. After several days, he went to the hospital where the medical personnel found that his cancer had returned with a vengeance and it is terminal. There is no surgery to be had, no chemo that can knock it out, no medical intervention that will alleviate his pain and suffering. At this time, Martin is confined to a hospital bed and they are doping him up the best they can.

Martin has chosen to enter the MAID program. In Canada, this is medical assistance in dying. His time on earth is coming to an end.

He is a good friend, an ambassador of our hobby, THE Rider of the Year without a doubt. Godspeed Martin.

It is very sad,. I like Martin. Met him on the SSR in Vermont. I know this all to well.

We found out yesterday morning and it was liken to a gut punch. He had visitors in his room when we talked to him. Indeed, The Rider of the Year.

Never met Martin in person. I loved that he posted so many humorous things. His ride reports were interesting. I regret not going to Canada this summer when I had a little gap in my schedule. Ride well Martin. You, too, friends.

Woody..AKA...John Woodyear is headed to Martin's hospital room. He will be there around 5 PM this Tuesday the 7th. He is taking his laptop and will be setting up a Zoom call for all to join.
