    End of year mileage

Well 2025 ended with me doing the lowest mileage I can remember 3,400. I've always been any excuse for a ride this year it's been any excuse not to ride, I just haven't felt like riding maybe next year.
I guess it started last Nov when Chethro, a guy from the western part of WV who has a thread on the Adventure site that I contribute to & I've met hit a deer.
He was in the ICU for quite a while with multiple broken bones, brain damage & Blind, I think it would have affected me less if he had died. 13 months later he has regained his sight but still has many issues.
last week he posted on his thread for the 1st time since the crash. Here's a link to the thread the crash happened on page 134.

We are sorry to hear about your friend. I almost quit riding in 2010. Not scared of anything, just sometimes bad stuff happens that is out of our control (or at least mostly out of our control). We wish your friend to continue his recovery, and hope to see you at BRPR. Ride, drive or walk. Doesn't matter.

A sobering read. Here's wishing Chethro a complete recovery. Hope to see you at BRPR, Bill.

Man, what a bummer. Hate that but glad he's improving. That guy posts some outstanding photos. Top notch....

Sorry for your friend Bill. Your ride posts are always great to read. I might read the link later, but that stuff is always gruesome. I'm a little fatalistic when it comes to driving, flying and riding. I ride to lessen some of the risks, but there is no way to be risk free and still enjoy our lives (and our rides).

Nonetheless, wishing you a Happy New Years Eve tonight and may 2026 see you hale, hearty, and joyful.

I quit riding for eighteen years back in ‘84, right after my first daughter was born. Something about having a child and really realizing what that love and responsibility is all about.
I started back riding when my second daughter was just out of high school. I had second thoughts fourteen years ago when my first grandson was born.
I use to do twelve thousand miles a year, then it went to six and has leveled off. Half of that is on a yearly trip south in the spring.
You’d think that a divorce would give you more freedom. 🤷

I logged 2035 miles on the bicycle. 408 miles running. This should count for something!

(Not big numbers for a true athlete, but still tough enough goals for me.)
