    August 6, 1945

I very much appreciate that this site is non-political. My question and statement here is in that same vein.

On August 6, 1945, a US Army Air Corp B-29 dropped a single bomb over the city of Hiroshima. 45 seconds later it detonated a thousand feet or so above the ground. Approximately 70,000 persons died that day. Peraps that many more died from complications by the end of 1945.

This event shook the world. For a generation afterwards it inspired books, dystopian movies, sc-fi movies, moster films, military developments, international intrigue, and schoolhouse "duck and cover" drills. Today, I saw nothing at all about this event on my regular computer news sites (I don't own a TV).

I wonder two things: 1) did any of you all see any mention of Hiroshima today, and was it just a blurb in passing or a more substantive piece; and 2) why do you think there is a dearth of remembrance of it this year?

(I sent a simple note about the date to some of you guys earlier today. Sorry for the follow-up.)

Like you, we don't own a TV but I did see one article on the net..

Other than your text I did not see it mentioned. I confess I did not remember.
