7 Days in New England. What to do?

I have never been to the tiny little states in the way Northeast. Wednesday Cathy and I are making a 6-Day exploration.

Day 1: Providence to Yarmouth on the lower arm of Cape Cod.
Day 2: Yarmouth to Boston and return
Day 3: Lexington and Concord and on to where? (Planning is not my style.)
Day 4: Western Mass., Amherst . . .Vermont
Day 5: Vermont and into N.H.
Day 6: N.H to Maine
Day7: SW Airlines home

I want to at least touch ground in each state listed. I'll come back again with a better idea of what to do. But. if I touch done in each of these I will have only Hawaii left to have touched all 50 States.

Looking for Suggestions. Especially in Boston and in Vermont.

Freedom Trail in Boston. Cog railroad to the top of Mt. Washington.

Oooh! Hadn't thought of the cog-rail up the mountain. Always thought about what it would be to ride a bicycle on Bike Day.

My dad ran the race up Mt. Washington every year, well into his 80's. The technique was to run, walk, and keep switching back and forth.

Lots of great roads in NH and VT.
Coast of Maine is nice.
We got where we avoided eastern Mass and Conn because of too many people, but if you've never been, you should go for the history stuff.
We did go to the Cape several times to visit Debbie's college roommate.

I just checked the cog-rail prices. $165 per adult for the Steam engine. $85 for the diesel.

That looks nice - the bike AND the hotel. Interesting that these grand old hotels often look similar. This reminds me of the one on Mackinac.
