I recognize the Michelin PR5 in the center but what are the other two? BTW, I use Pirelli Angel GTs.

They're just meant to be tires representative of different types of riding. Brands left off on purpose so no copyright type issues in the logo. I'm trying out my first Angel GT, have used Michelins for a while. -
Well, since Dan started it, there's no sense wasting a good tire thread...
I LOVE Pirelli Angel GTs... I have them on my R1200RS, and they are truly incredible tires!! There is a newer model known as the Angel GT II that will be going on my recently purchased K1300S before my departure for SGR. The bike came with a new set of Dunlop Street Smart IIIs... I've put 4000+ miles on them and they look like they could go another 4K, but the steering and turning characteristics are quite vague and the grip level is not confidence-inspiring. I used Dunlop slicks on my track R1, but I don't care for their street tires... the Pirellis are in a different league...

Tim, I don't have many miles on them yet because I haven't been riding this year.
Yes, front and rear and I like them better than the TKC80s on loose gravel roads.
I ride mostly dirt roads and here they put a hell of a crown in the center. When I'm
going a round a left hand turn and riding the side of the crown they don't come loose.
If I was going on a trip I'd probably swap for something more 80/20 though.

I think that it depends on how much mileage you are chasing Charlie. If 3,000 miles is sufficient, I find the Dunlop Q3/Q3+ very tough to beat, and they are typically "cheaper" than many to boot. It's not about mileage or price for me... I want tires with great grip and precise steering. I've tried the Q2s, but I thought the steering was a bit vague, and they were kind of sketchy when cold... I didn't care for them. I would imagine the Q3s are an improvement, but the Michelins and Pirellis I've used suit me better... -
I have to talk up the Pirelli Angel GTs as well. Surefooted "Mountain Goat" grip when leaned over. There's almost never any "Drama" with these tires. I run 38 PSI Front and 42 PSI Rear...it makes the response to inputs much lighter, easier, quicker. Oh, I also have Riser Plates...Bar-None the best modification I ever did to this bike!Last edited by R111S; 07-31-2019, 04:19 PM.
