I did Barber (again...never too often) .....

Barber. If one hasn't been then one is missing out on a fantastic bike display. Our ex company had a dealer meeting there twice and we've visited once on our own. We need to go again!!

Are the bikes on loan from private collectors?

Some, but many are owned by Mr Barber himself. They say it's not unusual for him to show up and take a bike out on the track, and I think he's in his 80s now.

We should plan a meet up for the vintage racing week there. I've been wanting to go to that for several years now. I just noticed that it's coming up October 4 - 6. Fraack. My wife has jumped the claim on that weekend already so it looks like it'll be next year for me.

I had a good friend visiting with me this morning that's from Mississippi who's done it more than once and had a lot of advice about places to see along the NT. This might be something I try to do between mid-October and mid-November this year. It'll be cooler then. Also, my brother and I usually plan to go to an Alabama game in Tuscaloosa every fall and could probably work that in to the trip.

I enjoyed my time on the Trace & didn't find it boring at all. The weather was just about perfect, school was still in & there was very little traffic, I obeyed the speed limit about 15% of the time, it was/is a really pretty road & about 70% of the time I had the road to myself.

And yes, a trip to Barber is definitely worth it! Would love to get back there one of these days.

No knowledge of accommodations because I camped. BUT, it is a fun, not exciting, ride. Stop at the turnouts and enjoy the historical markers. Take your time. Motorcycles WILL go at moderate speeds, even if most of us on this forum don't spend a lot of time being "moderate."

Tupelo is about 2/5s of way. Lots of motels there but we didn't find any good places to eat. We were on the Elvis birthplace side of town around lunchtime. It's a tired old town unfortunately.

A friend and I did the "Trace" several decades ago.

Riding through the Vicksburg battleground site was a side trip and memorial.

Cabnfvr, how far is the barber museum from the trace? we have been there a few years back, but if time allows maybe well go there again.

Tupelo to Barber is 150 miles.

I'll be in Birmingham at my daughter's around April 25th, but regrettably not on the bike.
