If you were going to the Texas rally, this would work if you were staying in Nashville. Every other rally on the east coast is the opposite direction.

The THCR will happen again in April 2020 & most likely in Bandera. No dates yet but most attendees like it to be scheduled after April 15th, for obvious reasons.

Surprisingly I rarely see a speed limit sign when I am riding...

I ride by "feel"... I've found that the combination of being reasonable (not hammering straights, not hammering near population centers) combined with running a good radar detector and sometimes checking out the BACK roads to work out very well.

Matt, I have some major respect for your BRP IB ride. Could there be another National Parkway iron butt out there to be bagged?

I have a daughter that lives in central LA so I've considered running this road the length from Nashville to Nachez to get there.

The distance of the BRPW and NT is virtually identical. IMHO it would be an easier IB because the road is by comparison, straight.

You bringing this up just made me realize that my links point back to the report which was hosted on the i-bmw site. I have the text somewhere within my computer systems and will have to post it on here so it actually shows up.

That ride was pretty fun/crazy/stupid/ill-advised/... but I think that I'm gonna try it again in 2021 as a 15 year reunion run... just to prove to myself that I still got it... err, am still stupid these 15 years later.

I've never been on Nachez Trace to speculate on how that would go, but if you actually get serious we should talk on the phone as I learned a few things in round one.

I did a second IBA run a few years ago returning from the Arkansas rally. That one was simply out of a need to get home and get home quickly. I left the Ozarks on a Sunday morning around 8 am and rested my weary head in Pennsylvania around 1 am.... I had all the receipts and paperwork, but never turned it in.... so I guess it doesn't count. Comparatively to the BRP ride, it was a cakewalk.

The Natchez Trace is a very boring ride. Flat, straight, low speed limit. It is very popular with bicyclists around here (Nashville).

Well, I'd planned to be in the area in May. My daughter works in Franklin at Westhaven CC right
now, but may be transferred to Birmingham, AL, so my plans may change. I hear there's a pretty
nice motorcycle museum there.

Plan on spending at lease 4 - 5 hours at the Barber museum when you go. You'll still feel like you could come back and spend more time. I did my Superbike School levels 3 - 4 at Barber and stayed an extra day to see the museum.
