Greeting to all. I was a member at I-BMW since 2012 having purchased my first BMW1200 GT 2004 and loved the site and the people involved. Learned alot about BMW's, riding, trips and just about everything else the other members learned.
I missed the site alot when it went dark. Really bummed out because it was a great place to go and share whatever. It really feels nice,, like home,, to see so many familiar names here.. i did search out to see what happened and a few days ago i saw Lee's post that this is where it ended up.
so a damn Big Howdy to all.
Since then I traded in my GT for a 2018RT fully equiped. My GT got to young for me. Loved that bike, but only can have one. 2 knee replacements arthritis here and there, turning 65, just wanted the comforts of new technology. With highway pegs, great satellite radio, GPS system, heating seats, and great suspension i can still ride 400 plus miles a day, but damn, its not as easy as it used to be. Guess I could have gotten a goldwing with coffee maker, hot pocket micro wave and back messenger, but I'm still old school in some ways and would rather have those luxuries at the next stop for gas. The message part did get me to thinking though.
in 2015 we moved from Connecticut to North Carolina after retirement and a search for a new home. We both like the east coast and the BRP is about 4 -5 hours away. Love riding in the mountains. Around here its like south Texas with long straight Harley roads, but country roads. There are places you Don't want to break down. You've seen Delervance. ? still nice place to live. So to get out west where the best roads and scenery is, you either ship your bike or rent.
No long trips this year except for a 5 day trip to ashville nc and riding the BRP. Beautiful weather and perfect timing. Mid week is the time.
2019 got to take 12 day trip back to Vermont to meet up with the Westchester Beemer club. 3 days of back roads there and back again. Anyone who knows I 95 knows that is no way to go. Hope 2021 brings good rides.
hope I didn't bore you with my report. Kinda like seeing old friends again and want to get caught up on whats been happening.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to All.
