        A small independent school district out of town a little ways had a deal like this. It had a straight slippery metal slide that also went from the same height. Kids came shooting out the bottom with tons of horizontal speed. Dropping your "landing gear" at just the ride time saved you from raspberries on the leg and butt. You could just run out of it. However, it was only after painful lessons that you got good at it. My almost 2-year old daughter ran out of a school dinner one night and zipped up the ladder before anyone could stop her. No hesitation - ZOOM - down the slide she came. I caught her as she flew out the bottom laughing her head off.
