As the father of some grown children I'm frequently asked by parents of teenage kids when is it in their maturation that they realize that their parents are not the dumbest people on earth. If we take the above curve and apply it to wisdom about life in general then the "I know everything" seems to peak in their college years progressing along the curve to the "trust me, it's complicated" phase beginning shortly after they have their own children.

For my kids, the "I know everything" phase peaked at graduation from high school. The 'there's more to this than I though" phase came in their early twenties. I have one who is at the "it's starting to make sense" (my daughter at 23) and my son who is in the "fuck it, let's live" stage at 25. It's all good.
