Actually, I had all kinds of grip... until I didn't. The big thing was all of the hot tearing. I could tell the tire was working too much because of the tearing. So be careful, the tire pressures on the new 200/65's recommended by Pirelli are 25-28 and I had to start running them at 31 to stop the tearing.

25-28 for an average sized person, you don't fit in that category ?

Apparently. I have been burning through tires and using the recommended pressures. I wish I had paid attention to this picture earlier.

Hot tearing. I always called it melting or feathering, but I like hot tearing. "How fast you goin' there boy? You been hot tearing them tires?" and stuff.

What is odd is that in one day this year I experienced both hot and cold tearing. I'm still learning this stuff.

Joe, I just saw this. That's pretty wild looking. At this point, did the bike seem super-squirrelly or just semi-squirrelly. For those of us unaccustomed to modern track and paddock wisdom, even 30-psi sounds low.,

No, during this time of the day the bike was totally planted but the wear pattern was off. By the end of the day the day I was loosing traction in this corner and one other but the rest of the track, the bike felt well planted. What was weird is that I went to 31psi to stop the tearing which is 3lbs over the recommended pressures by the manufacturer.

Definitely a rapid loss of pressure from the rear valve

        Thank God for perforated leathers
