We've been there a few times but the thoughts of 500 miles of mostly I-95 and 30 to 40 degree mornings just don't have the desire that they used to. It was fun the year we left the rally and had lunch at the Captain's Table in Cedar Key then rode over to Flagler for dinner at the pier, then back to Starke. Looks like that was back in '95.

With the weather being nice this last week I would be tempted to attend but I will be in London. Last time I was there they gave everyone, even non veterans PX privileges. Are you camping? Good luck with the weather. They don't call it the Coolest Rally for nothing.

I encountered a lady in a pick-up on a nice road in TN on year. I realized that this was her turf
and I wasn't going to pass her. She had one arm resting in the open window, holding a cigarette.
She was going around corners on the wrong side of the road and checking her mirrors.
I gust stayed back and watched the show. Best not to mess with them.

Unfortunately rednecks are everywhere. Our first, last and only SSR experience happened in VT where one truck driver waited at a side road until we got right at him and he turned right in front of us, and watched us in the mirrors, gunning that there revved up engine. Soon after that, we had another driver flip us off because we had the right of way through an intersection. Apparently we messed up their chance to run the red light. Also, while on their way to the same SSR, Vic and his group had a pick up try to run them off the road when they tried to pass. He told us later that they pretty much had to lay low until the idiot left the scene. Plus we lived in PA for 7 1/2 years and witnessed some pretty stupid stuff, so yes, it's everywhere.

Look like standard rules for riding on any base.Originally posted by Aa3jy View Post. The rules for riding on base has pretty much the same since the inception of this Rally..so nothing new.....

Yeah, that whole "Yankee plate" thing is pretty stupid in my opinion. I live less than an hour from what was the capitol of the confederacy and there are lively debates still going on about flags and monuments. However with I-95 running through the state it's not like no one has seen a plate from north of the Mason Dixon line and you don't see any news articles about anyone being targeted for being "a Yankee ". Maybe a Yankee fan.

Agree on that! Nothing scares me more than a closed mind. We get nervous and we're from the South. But neither of us do not support that flag. Never have, never will.Originally posted by Aa3jy View Post
But ironically, we saw more Confederate flags in PA than in our lifetime in NC. Very strange!
But back in track, hope that you have a great time at the WInter Rally! Take some pix and post up!
Yesterday I found an old m/c club (Knob Mountain Motorcycle chapter / Knobbies) ride report on when we went. Interesting read!

I-95 is tame compared to the back roads of Ga.. especially the roads around the Okefenokee Swamp..remour has it Yankees have been led away into the Swamp and never seen again..
From Legends and Lores of the Swamp..
Okefenokee Swamp. The tradition faded away after the interstates opened through Georgia.
