Here's what we're thinking for the route. The only reservations we have is Gunnison.
I'll keep the days short in case it's hot. Most of the route will be two lane.

Saturday Walden, Co.

I'll be making reservations this Friday. Since we're looking for park at door motels I'll have reservations in advance every 450 miles or so. I go back and forth on reservations vs go for it but it's no fun looking for a motel when you get to an area where many are full. The down side is we can't stop when we see a spot like the Mellow Moon. That one looks nice.Last edited by cabnfvr; 06-17-2020, 11:03 AM. -
I'm looking at motels online and for the trip out I may make reservations the night before or the same morning. -
I've never had a problem waiting until the afternoon to book a room for that night. We usually start looking online around where we think we might stop and call a few places for prices and availability. That said, we're usually looking for only a couple of rooms.

Agreed Dan, It was just temporary as we wanted to get a measurement on the Hitch height with the K1300S in the Bed. -
Are you going to haul a trailer with the tailgate down? Turning should not be a problem but entering a steep incline might be. Also, I use a 2x12 extended over the lowered tailgate to help support the weight. Might not be necessary but it makes me feel better.
