One has to visit ..not necessarily attend this event..in order to appreciate the significance and attraction of the area...

We were planning to attend this summer to see Nelson and ZZ Top.

Don't know if the concerts are still on.

Some no-name concerts still planned at the "Chip".

Nelson and ZZ Top appear to be no shows at this time.

If one decides to attend the rally or not..expect road checks by the locals at the boarders into and out of the Rez....

Won't be going that far north.

We often cut over from Sioux City along the river and then across the Rose Bud and Pine Ridge Reservations.

You go past many sunflower farms that are so large you can't see the farm houses from the road....just sunflowers for a far as you can see.

After the reservations, we cut up into the S. D. Badlands and try to spend the night at the campgrounds.

Usually a nice chorus of coyotes at night echoing over the hills.

Actually it includes the Rosebud and Pineridge Rez..if one does the Badlands Loop a portion is on Rez.land..

How do I know these facts..

          Cool place to stay.

We usually camp in Spearfish or Deadwood at the KOAs.

          Thanks for the heads up.

I’d seriously look at Hot Springs as an alternative...

I've been through Custer State Park solo.

Maybe we'll head down that way this time.

            Thanks for the tip!

I think that the Antiquities Act gives only the president the power to do anything. Unless this
is now a Nation Park and then it's Congress.

Mt.Rushmore is a National Monument and protected by the National Park Service..in years past there has been protesters attempts to climb and repel off the ‘Faces’ but where easily arrested and prosecuted..
