Wes, You are always welcome here. i just got resigned on Mike's Ride Western Carolina site and I see him once in a while. My friend Jay Corbin just got a place in Murphy, so I will be over that way more often. We all think MattB is a curse. LOL.

We're at the Lil Abner motel in Slade Ky.
Good motel for the Ky rally in Aug.
Dry all day but poured the last 2 miles.


Watched some of the bicycle racers pass by while we had breakfast at the North Star.





I think this year was the best weather at the rally.

Brisket next door was good but they wanted $4 for 2 paper cups of water.
We decided to skip on the water and took our food back to the motel

In VT it is required that they provide free water with a meal. Can be tap water, but water.

The girl never mentioned they charge for water, but I looked at my receipt before they gave us the food. One of the workers said they charge for water because we could have filled our cups with pop.
I asked to speak with the owner but Debbie decided it was best to get me out of there

We went to the local drive-in theater this weekend.

$5 charge for bringing in two cups of water from the outside.

I made it back home last night about 7:30 after a great day taking the long way with MattB. It was about 300 miles of West Virginia twisties followed by about 165 miles of stinkin' hot highway miles back to Annapolis but it was totally worth it to spend the weekend with such great people having good clean fun - that's my story and I'm stickin' to it.

Matt and I happened upon the Depot Diner in Parsons WV that had a pretty great buffet of home cooking that put us in a food coma for the rest of the afternoon. We left there and I think I might have said something to Matt like "Trust me, I think this will be a better twisty road." I was sure that I was going to get him off the pavement as payback for all the GS hate he dishes but the road just turned out to be a great but narrow road over some mountains that eventually connected us with US50.

The Lodge up on the hill is not doing breakfast during the week due to labor shortage.
The coffee shop near the motel has breakfast.
Omelet was good.







They are building a new back deck.
