A brief history of SGR...
We began SGR in 2008, and the first two years attracted about 30+ riders from all over the country. After the first couple of years, the size of the group was reduced to about 20, but by then we had developed a core group of about 15 to 18 people who returned year after year. But people's lives change in ten years... mine certainly has... and our group became smaller and smaller.
We've struggled with fires and lack of facilities in our more remote base camps, and the past couple of years, we've only had 4 to 6 people attend. I am fine with a small group, but it's hardly worth the effort to organize a rally, and now that I've relocated to Northern Arizona, it's nearly impossible to do any recon work for future SGR gatherings.
That said, there are still a handful of faithful who have been getting together every year, and we plan to do so again this year. No firm plans have been made as far as exact date and location, but we will likely meet somewhere in Northern California immediately following Labor Day, our traditional time.
If anyone is interested in joining our small for some great riding, speak up... all are welcome!!

Looking at the calendar, i don't have any obligations beginning September 18. So I plan to go to Weaverville that week. There is an outside chance that I will be free beginning Thursday the 14, so I might be able to go then. Just thought I'd let you hooligans know in case you can make it.

Bobby, SGR has always (14 years) been held immediately following Labor Day, which we will continue as long as people want to join us. Sorry if that doesn't work for you... maybe you can rearrange your schedule?

Yeah, i get that. I wasn't suggesting to change the tradition. My sister and brother in law from Germany will be here the week after labor day so I'm locked into staying home then. I was just looking at the map and drooling about all the great roads around Weaverville and thought I would take a trip down there sometime later in September. If someone is in the neighborhood then, it'd be great to get together.

Let me know Charlie. beech (I think I can get Al interested, Andy does not have a bike as of today. He thought he could give it up but it really is his neck and a S1000RR. ) I can do NC and enjoy it. As you say we are all getting older.

Beech, it's nearly impossible for me to do any recon now that I'm in Northern Arizona, but I'll make some calls and check conditions after the devastating fires last year. The we're only 3 of us last year... Victory, Jim Kuehn, and myself. We stayed in Markleeville and then Sonora. From what I understand, Markleeville is like an island in a burned up forest now!!
I'm not sure about this year, but Peter Woodhouse will be coming down from BC. Vic has been struggling with sciatica but should be good by then.
And there's always Weaverville to consider... stay tuned...
