36 when we left. 70 when we arrived in Eureka Springs.

Not sure my route but will take more direct route.

Not sure of your route Mike, but the Talimena Parkway is a nice ride across Arkansas from Mena into Oklahoma. At about the halfway mark, it intersects with 259 & from there you can head south through some pretty scenery, through the Beavers Bend area & into Idabell, OK. From there you can ride into East Texas or into Dallas if you're in need of civilization & services. My local BMW shop is in Plano on K Ave., where I'm kinda chummy with the service mgr. Jake, if you need anything BMW related. Ride safe!

The weather and wanting to be in Bandera made me take more direct route.
Hadn't planned on making such good time because of the crazy speed limits here.

Low 60s this morning and high of 81. 30 to 40 mph winds but we we were protected most of the time.
Went down 23 then jogged back east to go over Mt Magazine. Stopped to see the Mt Magazine Lodge.
Susan was right the view from that lodge is even better than the view at Queen Wilhelmina Lodge.
Too windy up at the Queen Lodge so got a motel in Mena. Found a good place for $60.
40% chance of rain tomorrow up on the Skyline Drive so we might take 63.

I don't make reservations on weekdays until afternoon when
I know better my landing zone. I get sidetracked easily.

A lot of times we do the same. But April in the Hill Country we find places fill up during the week.

Little chance of a shower here. I got west of the bad stuff yesterday.
Thought about going farther but when I got off the bike I realized how beat I was.
The relentless wind and riding at pretty high speeds really took it's toll on me.

Not being able to go over Wilhelmina this morning made us find a good alternate route to stay low out of the clouds. A local at breakfast helped us pick the roads.
Had about 100 miles of warm rain. Logging trucks tracked blenty of mud and sand out onto the roads. Not slick but the bikes were a mess.
Big temperature change in few days.
Saturday when we got up was 23F and when we rolled into Mineral Wells, TX today it was 93.
We arrive in Bandera tomorrow, Wednesday.
