71 this morning and 92 when we Arrived in Mineral Wells, Tx.
took 83, 377 and 16.
Stopped in Strawn for ice tea. The huge ice teas hit the spot on the hot day.
Friendly local and owner. When I went to pay for the drinks, she said no charge.
I'm guessing if we had ordered the $19 hamburgers we may have had to pay

Rooster and I stopped there last year. Our food was just so-so, but the folks were nice. Plus, some teenage kid asked us all about the Triumph and Rooster's K1200S. He personally rode a Kawasaki 600 sport bike that would only do 165 miles per hour. He was wanting a BMW RR because they can go over 200 and cruise all day at 150 . . . and the towns in Texas are far apart and it's good to have a bike that can get you there fast and he was a really good rider and could out-ride all the guys in Strawn and the next town over and he wasn't sure what he wanted to do with his life but college sure wasn't worth the money and he might learn a trade and he could already weld and shit and he knew a lot about electricity and computers and stuff.

I was tireder when we left than when we rolled in.

We had breakfast there on the way down to Texas. The sausage was great and breakfast came with a free bike wash.

Here are pics from our THCR 2022 trip. Our first stop was the Sallie Howard Memorial Chapel in Mentone, AL. Interesting architecture.




Next stop, Mushroom Rock in Littler River Canyon National Preserve.


Who knew there was an actual canyon in Alabama. This view is from the Little River Canyon Rim Parkway.


The road out. Our Jeep has an inclinometer and we have a lot of 14% grades around home. That's steep. I'd bet this one is 30% or better.


The TAT. We have turned this stop into a tradition and to catch up with Percy.


The Talimena National Scenic Byway.


Talimena, OK. The Hateful Hussy Diner. We had breakfast there on the Monday before THCR.


We stayed a few hundred feet down the road at the Hootie Creek Guest House. Nice place but watch out for the guineafowl butter.

We stayed at the Hico Inn.


We stayed in room 106.


It had a refrigerator. The microwave didn't work not because it wasn't plugged up but because the outlet didn't work.


On the positive side it was within walking distance of the Koffee Kup.


We have found it.


Regency Suspension Bridge.


The Wedding Oak in San Saba. It goes back a ways.


We were getting a bit peckish and we saw this house so we went in. It won't be the first time a Hooligan went into a house thinking it was a restaurant.


It reminded us on Ma's Restaurant in Richmond, KY. It was delicious!

Baby Head Cemetery. The caretaker was there and filled us in on the local history.


Vaqueros Motel, Bandera, TX. Hooligan HQ. Some yute parked his truck out front.


OST in Bandera. Lee has this sneaky plan of using Debbie as a diversion so he can snitch my pie.


Lone Star Motorcycle Museum is a good stop.

Frio Canyon Motorcycle Stop. Cathy had never been so we fixed that.

Headed home. We stopped by We Slaughter BBQ but Leatherface already had a full house to stock his freezer so we jumped on the running motorcycle and departed with haste.


We did notice Leatherface was letting air out of peoples tires in front of the cabins he rents out. This is supposedly the original van from the Texas Chainsaw Massacre movie.

Almost home. The last 134 miles were fun. Warwoman Road, 28 and US64. It's amazing how a curvy road will make you forget you are a popsicle.


It was good to see the Hooligans. Looking forward to the next!

Great write up Tim and Susan. If you took pictures, Tim, we'd see more of Susan LOL. Nice photos. Good panoramas and good portrait shots, but your real specialty is "foodie shots," especially pie!

Good day today.
In Talihina, Ok we saw where Tim and Susan stayed.


While parking in front of the Cafe I got a good look at a bare ass when a wind gust blew a short skirt up above a girl's waist.
We also got a close look at a Black Bear on the Talimena Senic road.
No pictures of those two events

Today we did the same route as two weeks ago but in reverse.
Left Mena, Ar taking 71 and 28 to Rover, then 309 over Mt Magazine.
Picked up 23, the pig Trail and took it to Eureka Springs.
Had Breakfast again at the Skyline and the retired Dr remembers our good parking job from 2 weeks ago

Stopped at the Lodge again for a break and the Turner Bend Store.





At the Turner Bend store I asked the guy with the yellow Harley (picture in earlier post) if he had been to Walmart lately. He gets cranked and starts to tell me a Walmart story.
I cut him off and told him I heard his story 2 weeks ago and only wanted to get him wound up before we left.
He laughed and settled down

That first pic reminds me of the time when we stayed at the Lodge. Tim went in to the reservation desk while I was outside under the entrance cover by the bike. The people in a van that was parked in front of us was in process of unloading their many bags of luggage. Van Man finally had to go in and get one of those luggage cart thingys to tote everything that they had brought. I just smiled at them as we got our "luggage" out of the saddlebags and sashayed in.

Made it home at 6:15 tonight.
The last couple hours were hard on Debbie with a bad cross wind. 30 miles from home we turned into the wind but Debbie had to stop.
We talked about getting a motel there or me riding home to get the car so she could drive the remaining 30 miles and I would ride her bike home.
After a 30 minute rest she felt better and we continued on. Riding directly into the wind was much better other than it was too loud to talk on the intercom.
A couple times I could make out her saying she was ok.
By the time we pulled in she was feeling a lot better.
