Nice strong tailwind as we headed north this morning, then the weather got strange after our pit stop at the Comanche Depot.

After Camanche the temps dropped from 85 to 70 in less than 5 miles and the sky turned dark. I pulled over to close our vents but Debbie said get going because it looked bad above us and a little lighter ahead.
Pulled back out to miss the rain and stopped latter to close vents because of cold.
At that point it looked like we were in fog but there was no moisture on our faceshields or bikes.
Not sure what it was. After awhile it warmed timid 70s and could see some sun.

Last night I made a reservation for a BestWestern in Decatur. Had a hard time getting to it because it's next to a interstate. We came in on hwy 51. There was no on ramp and no off ramp to cross the interstate. We pulled onto the interstate and ran down the shoulder a 1/4 mile, got off to cross over and ran up the other shoulder a 1/4 mile to the motel. The motel is only 100 feet from the traffic, louder than hell and looked like a rat hole. I wished I had not made the reservation last night. Lucky for us they had a room on the back side that is quiet and nice.

Last night I told Deb it might be hard getting to the motel because Google Map showed we had to park on the other side of the interstate. And walk across.

Tonight I made a reservation for Mena, Ark for tomorrow. Maybe Yellville the next night.

Looks like the first part of my post needs approved.

Motels can be a crapshoot. What looks great on the internet can turn out to be just as you described. The Hico Inn comes to mind. But then on a scale, we compare everything to the Gordon.

The room was good, but the outside and location was crap.
Once we closed the door we were fine

We stopped at the Hatefull Hussy in Talihina, Ok for ice tea before riding over Skyline Drive. $1 for a large ice tea. We sat outside and had quite a few locals stop and visit.
70 in Talihina, then it dropped to 61 on the Skyline Drive. It was sunny, clear and we had the road to ourself again.

I'm glad that the Hussy is still doing business. It was for sale when we stopped there last year. That looks like one of the birds from the Hootie Creek House.

How about starting the day off, Lee, with the 2-eggs and 6-oz ribeye starter breakfast with hashbrowns, biscuits and gravy? If you wanted, you could do as Wes would, and ensure you had enough by paying a little extra for a short stack on the side.

The Gordon has the 12 upper rooms ready to rent. $95


Still working on rooms by old office. They look good except for the tiny bathroom.
They have not decided on the price. She said in the $125 to $150 range.
She mentioned Jasper now has building codes.


We're in Yellville tonight.


Temps got up to 69 between Ola and Russellvlle then dropped back to 60 on hwy 7. Mostly sunny.

The Gordon remodel? I just don't know what to say. They've obviously spent some effort and some money. I just don't think they were prepared for what a long way they had to go. The Yellville place is so inviting, both in and out.

It warmed up fast this morning and it was 59 when we left the motel. 63 with a nice tailwind when we arrived home around 2:30.

Lee, the photo with the tree and the photo of the Castell store are both interesting. Where were they taken? The more I look at the tree picture, the more I like it. Some of you guys on this site (and gals, Susan) really have a gift.

The tree is at the gas station at the intersection of 187 and 337 near Vanderpool.
Castell is west of Llano on Ranch Road 152.
Susan is a better photographer, I just take a lot of pictures
