Glad he got back in the saddle.
That's the odd thing. After the get off, he continued to ride for the rest of that day. He didn't get the jitters until sometime afterward, during the time we took to fix the bike. But yeah, he was happy with his riding and I thought he did fine.

I guess. I asked him to ride many times and there was always something else for him to do until I got his mom to go and she asked him, it worked. Last night I asked if he wanted to ride down to the GMR and he quickly answered in the affirmative. So we shall see.

Yes Doug, PTSD. But it sure made him respect the power and inherent danger these bikes bring forth. Good that he learned from it.
He is an outstanding guy, unlike his Dad.

Funny thing is, he had respect and knew the danger of all bikes without this incident. His get off had nothing to do with lack of respect of power or the understanding of the possibility of a get off, but everything to do with an overabundance of caution. He was going less than 25 mph when he freaked (target fixation), grabbed too much brake and layed it over.

I am actually very thankful that he has a heightened sense of mortality as compared to me. I could not have owned a bike, of any displacement, when I was his age. At 19 I was 10 feet tall and bulletproof! No measly little bike could scare the sense into me. But William is a different person altogether and one of the reasons why I have no problems with getting him a bike like the K or any bike for that matter. He just isn't going to push the envelope.

As far as PTSD, well, I'm not going to diagnose anything like that. It may be that, or maybe not. I wouldn't blame him. When I had my bad wreck I couldn't wait to get back on to prove that I was better than some fucking accident. William and I drove out to the accident site in my truck a few weeks after I got home from the hospital and I pissed on the spot. William thought I was crazy and asked why I did it (pissed there). I said I own that shit. He never understood.

Thanks Fran. And yes, I am one of the luckiest people I know as I won the family jackpot.
