    Getting out

Taking advantage of a balmy 38ΒΊ morning before the next Artic blast hits went out for BBQ. The roads were dry (mostly) so with BF gloves and heated liners we set out. At least it was sunny and not windy. We didn't make food pictures because we ate it. On the way...

This pic is current. The Broad River used to be about 50 feet across and only a couple of feet deep. On Sept 27, 2024 it rose in height to about 30+ feet. Chimney Rock NC is 1/3 restored, 1/3 closed and 1/3rd just gone.

We dined at Chimney Rock Smokehouse and it was excellent. Pretty cool Christmas decorations as well.

We're trying to get out as much as we can without encountering any icy spots. We're headed to Colorado and bits of Utah after we leave from BRPR 2026.

Susan, you were looking a "little green" sitting in the sleigh with Tim. Did his driving make you 'sleigh-sick?"

Given the roads around here, Tyson, it is possible!

We went back in the Jeep last Tuesday to see the Smokehouse lit up for Christmas. Great little BBQ joint.

I'm not much for cocktails, Tim and Susan. But, to just be in the spirit of the season, I might just close my eyes and point to one of those on the menu and take whatever comes up. The names alone, are entertaining. Yippee Ki Yay Mother ... is not only funny, the recipe looks interesting.

      Did you all try any?

No riding here, it was 1 degree this morning.
At some point I'll change the oil.

We got out again. We had plans for an overnight trip to Ellijay GA but weather wasn't cooperating at all until the last couple of days. Temps were high 40s to mid 60s with a few showers, some clouds, and some sun. In other words, normal. So we went to church.

After riding in 40ΒΊ temps and dodging showers we saw a little sunshine and arrived at or place for the night. We had dinner at the Coppertop, did a book store tour, bought some fabulous chocolate at Von's, and petted a dog.

Our ride on the next morning on the way home started on the Richard Russell Scenic Highway. It has some nice 2nd gear corners and scenic views. Almost every bike we've ever had has been on this road.

Our post Christmas / pre New Years ride was a successful 392 mile trip. The GS has 12,125 miles. The Dunlop Trailmax Missions have over 10,500 miles and still good(ish). They did amazingly well in the curvy bits and will be replaced in a few weeks with another set.

We wish everyone the best in the New Year.
        Speed safe.

I'm so jealous. I've put in more miles on twisty roads in N. Georgia, WNC, and TN over my lifetime than most people of ridden. I grew up in N. Georgia and we'd ride there with all my WERA racing buddies at least a couple of weekends a month. Can't wait to get my new bike down there.

My sister's husband's parents were from the Tate City area near Clayton, and Hiawassee. When Tim and I started dating, we would explore the great roads around there and beyond. Speaking of WERA, do you know Frank Shockley?

Nice Tim, ride reports are my favorite. Sorry, had to laugh at Susan sliding down the hill, been there done that. I'm anxious to get out when we have a decent day, everyone at my house has been under the weather since about Christmas. Starting to see light at the end of the tunnel though. Glad y'all are getting out. Electrics are one of those things you just don't know how good they are until you have one. Thanks Rob!

We took the S out for the first time since April 2024. As our neighbor once said to us, "That's a go-fast!." Yep, it sure is. After the Zentrum we took a spirited ride to Iron Key Brewery for lunch. It was a good day.

First outing since April '24? Man, it seems like yesterday that we saw you all on it. Was this old thing garaged while you road the black one, and then the GS?

Tyson, The K1300S was parked with no tag the entire time. Still runs like new after 82,000 miles.
