Spent the first night in Harrison.










There was a rough looking crowd at Gordons so we stayed across the street.

14 days, 3354 miles, just to hang out with friends for a few days. Time well spent. Day one was hang a right 1/4 miles from the house onto US64 West. I rode this old part of US64 many times in the 80's. Often in the dark heading home from a long day ride.


Day two we awoke in Hurricane Mills, TN. We were originally going to go through Georgia, Mississippi, Alabama but a little hurricane changed our route. Friday morning. Me thinking the S could do that.


Word must have gotten out quick that Tyson was going to be there.

Saturday morning. My idea to go north was a good one. We are the black marker. We awoke and went west.


Heading to Queen Wilhelmina with a mandatory lunch stop.


We've never eaten here. One of these years we will. We hear it's very good.

Sunday morning we stopped on the Talimena Scenic Drive at the Arkansas Oklahoma border marker.


Queen Wilhelmina lodge was crowded. The Scenic Drive was all ours. It was a bit windy the night before so lots of leaves in places. Our first time on this road.


Alma, Arkansas. Spinach capital of the country. Home of Popeye and one nice caboose.


Popeye. He was magnificent.


Alma was redoing downtown. It was nice.


Lunchtime found us at this little place, Neon Moon. The burgers we extremely good even if the wind was trying to blow us away.

50 years ago a nuclear icbm resided here.

Missile Complex 374-7e north of Conway, AR. Between the building and the trees a missile exploded throwing it's nuclear warhead out. Thankfully it did not explode.


The Louisiana Purchase marker resides out yonder about a mile.

Weiss Lake Lodge. It's a good clean place to stop. Shop at BJ's.


US5 in 0.7 miles. Dang GPS. (Yes, off road is set as an avoidance.)


3304 miles later, Cullasaja Gorge. Almost home.


Thanks to Curt for setting this up. Mrs Gordon was gracious as always, even bird dogging the plumbers until we had water again. We are looking forward to the next AHR wherever it may be. Happy Trails.

One of the first threads I read from the Refined Hooligans was about getting pulled over as a group. As helmets were removed the young officer was purported to have replied, "Not going to do me any good to talk to you guys is it?" And that was a lot of hair ago!
