Anyone use padded or armored shorts. I have a pair of summer riding pants with good knee protection but really no hip or tailbone protection other than very thin foam pads. Bohn makes what look like bicycling shorts with armor and mesh for cooling. They look pretty good. Thoughts.

Don't see how you can go wrong upping your padding as long as they'll fit under your riding pants. You could also look at upgrading the padding in your riding pants. I did that with a back pad, had a really thin piece of foam in it. Usually those pockets they fit in have some room for that.Last edited by Capnrip; 06-12-2020, 05:20 AM. -
I've been looking at the Leatt gear for off-road riding. I bought the Leatt 3df Airfit Hybrid body protection and it is good kit. They also make a pair of shorts that I will most likely pick up. I don't think they are going to add anything for the slide on the road, but definitely for bumps and minor get offs.

We replaced the crummy knee protectors that came with our textiles with Alpinestar knee and shin protectors. The OEMs were puny and shifted around.
These not only provide crash protection but also help keep engine/road heat and cold air off of the leading edges of the lower legs....
