Hi John, for this trip I decided I'm getting too old to speed so I decided to leave the RD at
home and not speed. I found myself taking the throughway from Atlanta to Birmingham
though. When I ride the highways I tend to ride the fast lane and like to be moving forward.
I guess it's so I only have to watch three sides and sometimes two.
Anyways, for some reason I would slow down and there would be a cop in the median.
I guess I have a sixth sense for them.
I have the MAX, a V1 and a 9500. I'm tired of the false alarms.

I've had several 9500 series and liked them. I currently have the Uniden R1 and although it says it is for "extreme long range", I've noticed that it alerts right about the same distance other "modern" radar detectors alert. I've never needed the GPS feature because I don't ride locally enough to have it be an issue. I know where the one or two Dollar stores are that trigger the RD and I have also tuned my R1 to filter out quite a few x frequencies. So there's that.

Would I recommend the R1? Yes, definitely. But features make a difference and the features on this one are not the same as one with all of the bells and whistles.

We have an old Escort 8500 on the bike and in the car. The Jeep has an Escort X50. For my 2 cents none are going to save you every time, but it's nice to know when you get zapped. If I were buying today I'd get a Valentine. It's cheaper to just get the best the first time.

I like the V1 and the direction arrows. Once on the highway I had one coming up behind me and got over in time.

I like my R1. Uniden is up to R9 now. It has directional arrows. I rarely get an alert from a car sensor. I was in the truck today for 13 hours and I may have gotten two.

I have an R1 in my tankbag. i bought this one because it has an audio jack and i connect it to my Cardo with a splitter. i also have the remote/mute button mounted on my bars so I can see the power button is illuminated (R1 has power) and i can push the mute button easily when I am sitting next to a radar gun. I works well and picks up radar far in front and behind me. As many know, radar detectors are not welcome in VA so I think it's best to hide them.

I bought the Redline 360c a year ago and am very satisfied. The range is incredible and spot on. It even updates itself wirelessly via your phone right there on the windshield.

After a series of earlier Escort detectors, I bit the bullet and recently bought the Escort Redline 360C... a major improvement over earlier detectors in eliminating false alerts. I bought it to replace an early Redline which has great range but was not able to be updated to filter out the radar signals produced by most modern vehicles. Now that the weather is becoming friendlier up here at 6400' in the northern Arizona mountains, I definitely need some road miles to temper the recent loss of a dearly loved lady...
