The future of in-helmet information technology?

Do we need more distractions?? Definitely not, but perhaps we can consolidate all our current electronic distractions into a more convenient form...

Looks too busy for me. I can't imagine looking at it especially with all the requirements just to try to stay alive on the road.

I figure if pilots have heads-up then it must not be a bad thing. Looks distracting for sure, but then so is looking down at an instrument. Anyone else recall turning the gauges in your muscle car to all point up for "normal" so all it took was a glance? No reading required. If up is good then heads-up must be good too.

Clearly, flying is serious business. On a bike, that half second to look away may take you across the dbl yellow or over the cliff. but, that's just my poor skills.

Thanks for sharing that Charlie. I hope it's as good as it is presented to be. Hopefully it works well when heading into a bright setting Sun.

If the display content, font size, color, etc is configurable then I'd be in line to buy one at some point in the future. I'd set it up with only a few essentials like Speed, Elevation and next GPS Turn.

I'm surprised SENA hasn't come up with something similar already.

For most it will be no more distracting than a smashed fly on their helmet face shield.

A few might have a major distraction.

I guess you'd really have to try it but it should be less distracting than having to look down for things. On our boats we try and keep the RADARs as close to line of sight as possible without being in the way. I'll try one if someone buys it for me.

Having had a HUD in my GMC Denali for 5 years I'll never buy another car without it so I can appreciate this benefit to keep your eye's on the road. That aircraft HUD and even this video is extreme, you don't necessarily need all of that information all the time. What you actually display if anything or nothing at all, is selectable and up to you. My preference is just MPH but even with that, it will automatically show turns when using the car Nav. It will also briefly display stations and tunes when they change. If I'm in stop and go then I'll also have the tach showing while manually shifting and holding it down in gears. The last thing I would ever do is buy a Tesla Model 3 where everything is off line of sight and requires extended periods of distraction. That includes just turning the wipers on! I appreciate the tech but it not for me. One last thing on the Denali HUD is that you can move the position up an down to make it as prominent as you want plus control the brightness. And last, because the virtual focal point is well in front of you, at least in the car, those of us that have any far-sightedness do not need correction to clearly see it. Go out and test drive a GMC, Hyundai or KIA SUV with it and see what you think.
