PSA front caliper recall notice

Received a letter from BMW today stating there is a non-compliance recall on certain model year 2019-2021 BMW R1250 and MY 2020-2021 BMW S1000 RR/XR bikes. Contact your dealer and let them know. My dealer said he would order the parts (gold calipers) and call me when they have them.

And a short 2 months later, I got my new caliper put on. Mine wasn't leaking, but it was replaced with a new Brembo caliper. I thought it odd when I bought the 2019 GS that the rear caliper was Brembo and the front caliper was BMW. There is a story behind this. I don't know if it's true, but I was told that a VP for BMW used to work for Harley Davidson (no not MattB) and that front BMW calipers were made by the same company that made the HD calipers. The calipers had some issues, so they were all replaced. Allegedly, the BMW VP doesn't work for BMW anymore. MattB would probably know for sure.

Shops have been replacing the front Hayes calipers for Brembo calipers the last few months.
I thought it was odd that Steve's (Hunter) S1000RR was delivered last week with what appears to be Hayes calipers.
