    Rear Brake Pads

my bike K1300S will need new pads soon, 25,000 miles, well how soon will be determined when this corona blows outa hear.
what pads are you guys using for the rear? Stock comes with organic, non metallic, are you guys keeping with the stock material or are you changing to the sintered
not sure of the reasoning why the rears are only an organic material from the factory, I know the fronts are sintered. I see beemerbone yard sells both, where pirate only sells the sintered. I am wandering if the rear Disk is made of different material where a sintered pad would eat up the rotor, or was it a economical reason why they only use organic, or do they not want the rear brake to grab as hard. I don't have a clue, if anyone has an answer would love to here your reasoning.
I did call my BMW dealer, they offer as an option to stock BMW brand pads EBC HH Sintered both front and rear. So maybe don't matter, he did not have an explanation or for that matter what material was used on the rears from the factory, his parts page does not tell him what material is used.

I prefer DP pads. Rotor wear has never been an issue. EBC pads had a bad squeal the two times I've tried them. I also tried the Galfer pads but I did not like them. The DPs have a really good feel, especially when first applied. The Galfers seemed to take a lot of pressure to get really good stopping out of them.

Hi Dan, just before flushing the Brake/Clutch Fluid, I replaced the front and rear Brake Pads on my '11 K1300S at 22K Miles in Spring 2019. I got new Carbone Lorraine Brake Pads from Pirates Lair (Jerry). He sells two types of compounds - I chose the OEM replacement units (not the performance units). They're performing well...no noticeable difference from the OEM units but that's my opinion.

      Rear: Carbone Lorraine RX3 Pads, P/N: 2900RX

I chose the high-performance Carbone Lorraine pads (from Beemer Boneyard), front and rear, for my 2015 K1300S. Great stopping power, but the front squeals a bit when coming to a complete stop, which is somewhat annoying. It will be a long time before I need to replace them, but when that time comes, I think I would choose the CL pads that Dan, R111S chose...

Okay all is good, the pads are correct, the inner pad (piston side) gets the thinner pad. Must be an application thing. I called my bmw dealer and had him check his replacements, same thing one pad more meat than the other. So all is good! Pads replaced front and rear! Plus all brake fluid bleed! Ready to put some miles on this baby!
I'm over this corona thing, time to ride
